Dr. McAllister has had over 10 years of private practice experience. Her areas of expertise include:
anxiety disorders: (OCD, PTSD, panic)
reproductive health disorders: (antidepressants in pregnancy, postpartum depression, mood changes in menopause).
Dr. McAllister is particularly passionate about phase of life issues that are often deemphasized in psychiatric practice:
-moving out of the family unit in one’s 20’s
-child rearing/work-life balance in one’s 30’s
-midlife work or “crisis” in one’s late 30’s and 50’s
-reflecting back/grief in one’s 60’s to 80’s
It is often these life “hot spots” that present psychiatric symptoms. It is important to Dr. McAllister to put these into context first before using psychotropic medication.
Dr. McAllister is board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology. She provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management and therapy for individuals 18-75 years. Her style is a holistic one of therapy, medication management, nutritional supplementation and lifestyle changes.
